With four unbroken miles of golden beach at low tide, Whitsand Bay on the Rame Peninsula is one of the top surfing beaches on Cornwalls south coast. It offers challenges for the intermediate surfer whilst still allowing opportunities for the less experienced. Watch out for strong rip tides though. Looe Bay is much more sheltered, only occasionally seeing big surf. The entire coast, is great kayaking territory - bring your own, or look out for hire (sometimes available at Talland Bay during high season). There are also organised expeditions going up river from Fowey suitable for all skill levels.
